It's said that clichés are an easy although inaccurate or even unfair way to describe the behavior and customs of a group of people and it's true that sometimes they can be hurtful. But, anyway, we shouldn't take them too seriously and have a bit of sense of humor...
Talking about the video, I'd add that the British have a bias towards the word "sorry" :)

It seems to me that clichés may usually result confusing. They are often false and can hurt, of course.

But on the other hand, they show us real characteristics of certain collectives and make us know them a little.

I believe clichés are wrong. Everyone has the right to be who they are without getting put into a "special group".
I´ve lived abroad for several years and in my experience, people are individual and different. However, I´m agree with Eva that sometimes it´s better don´t lost our sense of humuor.

I think stereotypes can be useful or harmful, it depends on how we use it. If we are open-minded we'll match stereotypes with our observations, but previously to our experience stereotypes should help us to be less surprised. Knowing some stereotypes is different that having some prejudices, I think.

well, in my oponion these ideas aren't true but, when you visit that places the most of people are unfrienlu, the food is horrible, the weather is terrified.... however, it's a pity, people are different in same cities or countries...

In my opinion, national stereotypes are inaccurate and unhelpful. May be they are useful to talk about general characteristics from people from a particular country but there are different people in all countries.

There are lovely, friendly, hardworking, extrovert, lively people all over the world. The most important thing is to be a good person, so you can be a lovely person anywhere in the world.

In my opinion and according to what I have seen in my travels, stereotypes are useful in order to give us a general or main idea of the society or people we are visiting, however it´s unfair and inaccurate to judge all people under these clichés.

I think, steoretypes are more harmful than useful because stereotypes are used specially with prejudices for example the Goths are clichéd as seriously people or bad tempered and is not always like that and, when somebody sees a Goth, they don't want to speak with them. I think, stereotypes are useful when everything you think about the cliché is true.

I also think stereotypes are more harmful than useful, becuase in the main of the cases they are not in concordance with the reality.

Nevertheless, it is also true that somtimes stereotypes serve to improve some things, for example the tourism.
Many foreign people believe Spain is a country full of parties, free time and sun. And these things serve us to get many tourists along the year.

So, in my opinion, we should be careful with stereotypes, but we could also use them to make profits for our country.

To tell the truth, I feel confused and very annoyed when I have to speak about this theme. I have to say that I never pay attention to the stereotypes because I can’t believe people are able to judge other people when is based on hearsay. You must be careful if you trust them because you can be completely in error.
In my opinion a stereotype is always a personal opinion or a mistaken idea and it can damage the image instead of helping to know about something.

I believe that stereotypes may be wrong, because they are based on the behaviour of a group of people who share the same life style, because of outsides factors as can be the climate. For example the Spanish is seen in foreign countries like lazy people because we are used to do the siesta, however the high temperatures in mid day help to explain this behaviour.

Finally, this sort of opinions not only are harmful, but also prejudice to a whole nationality.

I strongly believe that stereotypes are mistaken because it's impossible to generalize about groups of people or nationalities.

For instance, it's absolutely wrong to believe that the Spanish people are lazy. I can claim you that the most Spaniards are really hard-working and besides, they earn less money.

We can say that a stereotype is a classification which people do of the different ways that other people act in their societies.

We never mind that a stereotype is right for society, but we usually use to know what can do a kind of people. Stereotypes help us get to know people, because we can predict how someone will behave.

However, I think that this is useful for the psychologists, but useless for the most of people, because they usually use it to point to negative features of someone.

Personally I believe that there isn´t much truth in national stereotypes because there are a great variety of manners in each country all over the world, but on the other hand, when we go abroad to a particular country, it´s very useful to know in advance some people´s general characteristic from there.

As regards stereotypes, I believe strongly that the people who judge other people for his appearance or other things, they´re people insecure of themselves who think that with this fact they’re better and stronger than the rest of the world.

Clothing, ways of behaving, customs of each country, they´re things which enrich the culture besides being a right of every person.

In my opinion clichés are, generally, useful when you want to give a general view about characteristics from people of a place but sometimes they are wrong and we have an incorrect idea of the place on account of these clichés. I lived in Irland with two differents families and I had distinct experiences with each one of them. The first family was unfriendly and reserved, however, the second family was very cheerful, lovely and talkative.
So I think you can find several types of people with very different characteristics in a same country that aren't in accordance with the clichés.

I think that a stereotype is a generalization that is usually exaggerated or oversimplified and is often offensive to distinguish a group of people. Stereotypes are hurtful and most of the time untrue. If we abolish all stereotypes we will finally be able to enjoy life without hate and without conflict.

In my opinion stereotypes are ideas that the society have about some social class or about people that they have different thinking and live form.
Normally stereotypes are negatives ideas.

I think that we haven't that judge the people for his life form o for his ideas, we should to meet the people and then judge if it's neccesary or not, according to our opinion.

In my opinion, stereotypes are harmless because we can't jugde people by their appareance neither their believes. We should be more broad-minded. In fact almost clichés are negative and they don't help us to undestand people around us.

When we use "stereotypes" is a way to know people and places that we haven't made an idea about them, this gives safety to us and it's also useful.
Maybe, it can be truth because, for example, most of people that live in the same village, with the same weather and same food have a lot of in common. A person who lives near of coastline, above all, is more open-minded, friendly and extrovert than another one who lives in the interior, but this is not the same for all, we must be careful to talk in general.
In my opinion, we can't avoid to get stereotypes when we think of a Polish, a British or a black woman, however, each person is different and only in the world.
